Nature and forest places are so healing meditative and peaceful. I love walking out to the woods in the summer. The sunlight is iridescent shining through the leaves creating beautiful shadows over the ground. I have always been entranced by the shadows and light in the forest. I create the effects of transient light by harnessing optical mixing and some of the colour theory employed by the impressionists resulting in a semi-abstract contemporary painting. An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on a deep edged canvas so no need for a frame. I use impasto techniques applied with a palette knife in multi layers, which creates a contemporary painting and if you look closely you can see the first layers applied in places. Achieving a B A Hons (first class) in fine art Amanda went on to lecture in painting and printmaking.
