Street Photography can be beautiful. Bird on a Ledge by street photographer Mitchell Funk is an exceptionally distinctive example of shooting the streets of New York and getting a lovely image instead of a gritty image. With a 500mm lens, Funk selectively focuses on the pigeon in the foreground. At the same time, the background is rendered in a vibrant impressionist palette that echoes the natural colors of the pigeon.
Signed, dated lower and numbered 3/15 lower right recto, unframed, printed later and other sizes are available. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper

Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
