About the Item

30"x24" unframed; ed of 12 signed by the artist Ashok Sinha specializes in photographing architectural and interior spaces and passionately looks at natural and built environments through a fine arts lens. Ashok Sinha was born in Calcutta, India. He has been living and working in New York City for the past two decades, and has been a professional photographer since 2008, shooting portraits, travel, and architecture. Over the course of his career, he has traveled to over 40 countries, photographing remote tribes, vast landscapes, local culture, food, and faces. Sinha’s work is about capturing a sense of place, whether it is a portrait of a person in their home or place of work, or images of the built environment shaped by an architect’s vision. His work has been published by National Geographic, The New York Times, Interior Design Magazine, the Financial Times, American Express, France Telecom, Hyatt Hotels, Coca Cola, and many more. His artwork has been collected and exhibited in galleries in the United States and abroad. Educated in New York at Columbia, New York University, and the International Center of Photography, Sinha lectures and speak at schools, universities, and events. His awards and honors include multiple International Photography and Travel Photography Awards, and acknowledgments from the American Society of Media Photographers, the Lucie Foundation, Photo District News, the Association of Photographers UK, World Photographic Arts, and the BBC. In 2012, he founded the Cartwheel Initiative, a nonprofit organization that uses photography and creative media to help young people build bridges within their communities and across ethnic and social divisions.
