This scarce early (1966) limited edition collotype was published on the occasion of the exhibition "Recent Still Life" at the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design. The regular unsigned edition was 2100, and the official signed edition was 100; however, exceptionally, Jasper Johns signed and dated the present work on August 27, 2008, at the time of his exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery in New York City. Hand signed and dated works like the present one are coveted; not too many remain. The work has fine provenance as it was acquired from the Estate of the artist and noted collector Rick Collar.

Jasper Johns
Jasper Johns is an American painter, sculptor and printmaker born on May 15, 1930. He eventually became one of America's best known post–Abstract Expressionists and Minimalists.
Johns's name is most often associated with pictorial images of flags and numbers and Pop art subjects that he depicted in Minimalist style with an emphasis on linearity, repetition and symmetry. He completed his first flag painting in 1955, alphabet subjects in 1956, sculpture in 1958 and lithographs in 1960.
