Considered an important graphic artist of the "lost generation", Becker is well known for his depictions of figures and portraits in a style that combined elements of German Expressionism, Dada, and French modernism. He worked in a variety of print media, including color lincut, lithography, woodcut and etching. After a short military service, Becker studied under the German Sculptor Karl Albiker at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. Coffee + Cigarettes
Located in New York, NY
This is a super rare and imaginative print - LAST ONE - from the edition of only 10  (TEN) - and it makes an amazing gift!  Paul Leibow Coffee + Cigarettes, 2019 Lithograph on Newsprint Grey Somerset Velvet Printed at Tamarind Institute. Hand printed by Elena Carrasco under the supervision of Master Printer Brandon Gunn Pencil signed and numbered lower right from the edition of only 10 Bears Tamarind Institute chop mark lower left Accompanied by copy of detailed Tamarind documentation sheet Measurements: 28.25" (vertical) x 22" (horizontal) Unframed Critic Tris Mccall writes in a recent review: "Felix the Cat is older than Mickey. He was created over a century ago, and he's been fading in plain view ever since sound was added to motion pictures. But in his Gilded Age prime, Felix was incredibly popular: famous enough to leave a burn mark in his image on the collective imagination. The spirit of the Cat retains enough psychic power to guide the hand of at least one contemporary artist - painter and sculptor Paul Leibow... This playful, irreverent work uses the figure of Felix, or what's left of him, to comment on sexuality, decay and reassembly, mechanical reproduction and corporate branding, and the ubiquity and ambiguity of the commercialized image..." Lithograph with image concept invention of a non existent character: Feel licks ears over ads of vintage comics, creating a unique abstract work, including ghosted figures and cigarettes and coffee falling from an imagined earthquake. The attempt was to use a series from vintage characters that inform the piece, with a body inside the Feel Licks cat face structure. Includes a brain W-ray with lamb faces as a surreal interplay. 6-color print, derived from the artist Mark Rothko in a blend roll or orange and red hue. Limited edition print, signed recto from the edition of only 10 PAUL LEIBOW BIOGRAPHY Paul Leibow works in painting, sculpture, mixed media, and film. A documentary art video about his archival process was selected for the Metropolitan Museum of Arts (a program for art on film). Over his art career, his work has been selected for art books and exhibitions by curators from the Whitney Museum and Met. Leibow has created artworks for recording artist Bruce Springsteen for his world tour, including books, and branded icons/logos utilized for his concerts. 2019 awarded an art residency at Tamarind Institute New Mexico, with two editions archived in the New Mexico Art Museum (UNM). 2020 artworks featured in ArtMaze Magazine’s Winter Issue 16. Don't Walk unique trial proof signed and inscribed by famed photorealist artist
Located in New York, NY
Robert Cottingham Don't Walk, 1985 Three color Linoleum Cut on Paper Pencil signed, inscribed to Bryan and annotated TP Published by Chip Elwell Fine Prints Unique - Trial Proof This is a unique Trial Proof that Robert Cottingham inscribed, annotated and gifted to Bryan Konefsky, his longtime studio assistant in both Newtown, CT and Santa Fe New Mexico. Only one other example - a variant - of this early print, exists and is in the collection of the Smithsonian. Due to the untimely death of printer Chip Elwell in October of 1986, only two proofs in the woodcut medium were pulled: the present work, which Cottingham gifted to his longtime studio assistant, and the one at the Smithsonian. Furthermore and in another interesting turn of events, Elwell's studio was burglarized shortly after his death and among the items stolen were the original wood blocks for DON'T WALK. This is an historic work; and the only one available on the market. Measurements: Framed: 15 inches x 13.5 inches x .3 inches Artwork 12 inches x 10.5 inches Robert Cottingham Biography Robert Cottingham (b.1935, Brooklyn, NY) is recognised for his Photorealist paintings of American urban landscapes, particularly his depictions of painted and neon shop signs...

Untitled
Located in Ljubljana, SI
Original color woodcut, 1992. Edition of 100 signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper. Mimmo Paladino is an Italian contemporary sculptor, painter, muralist and printmaker. He attended the Liceo Artistico di Benvenuto (Benevento Art School) from 1964 to 1968, when minimalism and conceptualism dominated the international art scene, which had effects on his art. He was also a part of Transavantgarde – the artistic movement with the neo-expressionist resurgence that swept through Italy in the 1980s. Paladino seeks his inspiration from both the ancient and the modern – from Egyptian, tribal, and classical artworks to the modern painting and sculpture. In his compositions we can often see a figure in combination with the signs like crosses, and techniques like the application of gold leaves, a symbol of eternity, borrowed from Christian iconography, as well as the hieratic pose of Byzantine figures and the gestural quality of that culture’s rites. Paladino himself admits to being “an artist of the south, but of the darkest, most mysterious south, and this is why I find poetic sensations that belong to me in certain aspects of Nordic culture, why I can make a totally black painting...
