About the Item
Frederick Stuart Church: 1842-1924. Very well listed American artist. He is best known for his allegorical compositions. He has auction results over $21,500. this is a rare pencil signed etching as even the museum of fine arts San Francisco and the metropolitan museum have examples that are not Pencil signed. I believe it is titled the wanderers return which portrays a beautiful maiden and the return of a dove or pigeon. The sheet size is 15 inches high by 11 inches wide and the image is 11 inches high by 7 inches wide. The frame measures 15 inches high by 11 inches wide and has one slight ding on the top right, see last picture. The etching is in good to very good condition with no foxing. The paper is slightly rippled.
