“As I walked out of my hotel room early in the morning, I was greeted by the sound of hooves hitting the ground and the sight of rugged gauchos tending to their horses to prepare for the day.
I had always been fascinated by the gauchos - the iconic cowboys of the South American grasslands. They are symbol of freedom and independence, a reminder of a simpler way of life. And here they were, right in front of me, living and breathing their passion.
I grabbed my camera and approached the gauchos, asking if I could take some photos (even though I cannot speak Spanish). They nodded and went about their business, ignoring my presence. I was grateful for their indifference, as it allowed me to capture them in their natural state - focused, determined, and completely immersed in their work. I always love to see different types of art.
As I snapped pictures, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and respect for these men and women. They were tough and resilient, yet gentle and caring with their horses. They have a deep connection to the land and the animals that roamed it, and it showed in everything they did.
The soft morning light, the dusty ground, the intricate details of the saddles and reins - the craftsmen working their trade- everything came together to create a moment in time that was both timeless and fleeting. “

ARTIST BIO:
Addison Jones is a Midwest-based multi-disciplined artist. She is an advertising photographer, fine artist, and creative director.
Through the lens of her camera, she translates geography, culture, and architecture into a universal language, crafting complex narratives without the need for words, and using light to illuminate emotion.
The daughter of creatives, Addison’s family moved frequently when she was growing up to follow her parents’ careers. Today, she remains just as nomadic—now following her own curiosity and intuition to new places in search of inspiration.

When she’s not creating, Addison loves snowboarding, exploring ice caves, hiking, and drinking tequila while challenging her 2 brothers to fishing competitions.

Addison Jones
Addison Jones is a world-class photographer and mixed-media artist based in the Midwest.
Jones uses her street art and mixed-media style to portray models from her own modern portrait photography. The result culminates in moody, sensual, and contemplative mixed-media art focusing on the humanity of the subject. Each of her pieces are original works.
Addison is known for layering her own photographs into complex street art and using the written word as a subtle texture feature. She utilizes silver and gold leaf, acrylics, and custom paints, including color changing, to add layers upon layers as she goes. In the end, it culminates in a piece that is viewed as a complex whole.
Jones begins each piece with a photograph from her own portfolio, and then free flows through each element, drawing inspiration as she works. She often says that her style often leads to mistakes that later become some of the best parts of the piece.
