This image Mitchell contributed to "In Memory of My Feelings: A Selection of Poems" by Frank O'Hara, edited by Bill Berkson, for the Museum of Modern Art. The project was published in 1967 in memory of Frank O'Hara, poet and associate curator at the museum, who died in a tragic accident in 1966. In 1983 Keith Haring teamed up with award-winning choreographer and dancer Bill T. Jones, founder of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. Keith and Bill met in London in 1983 at a time when the graffiti artist was opening a major show at the Robert Fraser Gallery, and together they produced a series of exceptional collaborations in both performance and drawing.
Keith Haring was an American artist and social activist known for his illustrative depictions of figures and symbols. His white chalk drawings could often been found on the blank poster marquees in New York’s public spaces and subways. “I don't think art is propaganda,” he once stated. “It should be something that liberates the soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further. It celebrates humanity instead of manipulating it.” Born on May 4, 1958 in Reading, PA, he grew up in neighboring Kutztown, where he was inspired to draw from an early age by Walt Disney cartoons and his father who was an amateur cartoonist. After briefly studying commercial art in Pittsburgh, Haring came across a show of the works of Pierre Alechinksy and decided to pursue a career in fine art instead. He moved to New York in the late 1970s to attend the School of Visual Arts, and soon immersed himself in the city’s graffiti culture. By the mid-1980s, he had befriended fellow artists Andy Warhol, Kenny Scharf, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and collaborated with celebrities like the singer Grace Jones. Diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 1988, Haring’s prodigious career was brief, and he died of AIDS-related complications on February 16, 1990 at the age of 31. Before his death, Haring established the Keith Haring Foundation, a non-profit committed to raising awareness of the illness through art programing and community outreach. Throughout his career, Haring made his art widely available through the location of his murals, as well as through the Pop Shop—Haring's own storefront which he used to sell his memorabilia.The artist’s mural Crack is Wack (1986), can still be seen today on a retaining wall along FDR Drive in Manhattan. Haring’s works can be found in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.

Printed in four colors: black, black, tan, and red-orange. Produced for a special posthumous exhibition of Munch's work at the Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum, Aalborg, Denmark from August 16 - October 21, 1973. The image featured on this poster is Munch's 1903 lithograph edition "The Brooch. Eva Mudocci", (Woll No. 244, page 208-209).
Edvard Munch would build a strong relationship with Eva Mudocci which lasted many years. They were connected through both romance and also friendship, with the two alternating in importance over time. There was a great mutual respect for each other, with Mudocci being a highly talented violinist from the UK who would regularly tour throughout Europe. They first got together in Paris...

Raimon and Joan Miró were close friends that first collaborated on the 1966 album Cançons de la roda del temps. In 1979, Miró designed a cover for the album Quan la aigua queixa, including the name of Raimon in large handwritten letters. As a result of this relationship, Raimon composed the song A Joan Miró, which creatively certified his admiration towards the painter.

The lithographic process begins by drawing on or painting on a stone surface with an oil-based substance, such as a greasy crayon or tusche (an oily wash). The stone is then covered with water, which is repelled by the oily areas. Oil-based ink is then applied to the wet stone, adhering only to the oily image. The stone is then covered with a sheet of paper and run through a press.
Lithographs tend to be more painterly than other printing techniques such as woodcut printmaking and drypoint, and many postwar and contemporary painters have collaborated with lithographic workshops to push their practices in new directions. The collection of vintage lithographs on 1stDibs includes works by Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, Peter Max, Jasper Johns and other artists.
Groundbreaking print studios like Gemini began to crop up in the mid-20th century. These included Tamarind, first founded as a lithography shop in Los Angeles; ULAE on New York’s Long Island; and Crown Point Press in San Francisco. The timing was due to the fact that many artists had developed a taste for printmaking during the Great Depression via the Works Progress Administration (WPA), which opened print shops for unemployed artists to help create useful and uplifting messages that could be widely disseminated.
