About the Item

UNIQUE Special Edition Proof out of 10 Hand-signed and numbered in pen on lower left Copyright "Andy Warhol 1979" verso Feldman/Schellmann (F&S) IIA.192A SE page 169 Printer: Rupert Jasen Smith, New York Publisher: Andy Warhol Enterprises, Inc. New York Framed dimensions: 58" high x 47" wide A demonstration of Warhol’s brief experimentation with still life, the artist first placed one or more pieces of fruit against a white background and cast harsh light upon them to create exaggerated shadows and light-based contrast. He would then use collage and drawing to create the source imagery for the additional screens used in each print. As each color in these works represents a different silkscreened layer, this printing process allowed Warhol to entertain endless color combinations within each composition.
