18th C Decanter Bristol Blue Glass Hand Blown with Trailed Neck Ring, Circa 1790

This is a very good hand blown bristol blue glass decanter having an unusual snake trailed neck ring and complete with its original lozenge stopper, made of heavy blue lead glass, circa 1790. There is a rough pontil mark to the base from the hand blowing process. This decanter has a distinctive "club" shape, typical of the later part of the 18th century George 111rd period and made of a a lovely deep cobalt blue heavy lead glass. It has a rare form of applied "snake" neck ring in a spiral design which gives a very good grip when pouring. Most of these bristol blue decanters...
