Frieze Week New York 2015
This week the global art world descends on New York as the Frieze Art Fair, held on Randall’s Island in a tent under the RFK Triborough Bridge, leads an impressive roster of shows. Frieze is synonymous with the best in contemporary art, offering works from more than 175 international galleries. Among the blue-chip 1stdibs dealers participating in the fair are Sikkema Jenkins & Co., Lehmann Maupin, Salon 94 and Paul Kasmin, which is presenting “a range of brand new sculpture and works across mediums, including photographs by Tina Barney,” according to the gallery's Danielle Mayer.
Beyond Frieze, Art Miami New York and NADA offer a mix of established and emerging artists at more accessible price points. Additionally, Collective, in the western reaches of Soho, presents premier examples of design, with a focus on 20th-century modernism, from Scandinavian craftsmanship to Italian postmodernism, as well as cutting-edge works by contemporary makers.
Whether or not you’re attending this week’s festivities, here you can browse — at a decidedly leisurely pace — our editors’ favorite pieces from 1stdibs dealers exhibiting at these shows.
