Chromatica - tall, geometric abstract, powder coated steel outdoor sculpture
By Ryan Van Der Hout
Located in Bloomfield, ON
As the sun moves through the sky, the green and purple lenses of Ryan Van Der Hout’s ‘Chromatica’ capture the light and cast colourful shadows. Van Der Hout’s powder-coated steel sculptures were inspired by their work as a professional photographer. This compelling modernist piece features five hand forged black steel poles that fan out from the center and are top and tailed with five disks of framed glass. Their vision was to create pieces infused with light and motion. As a result, the sculpture is best viewed by walking around it. “Effecting something of a kaleidoscopic eye, the sculpture’s lenses interact with sunlight and with each other to combine colours in surprising and delightful ways.” Ryan Van Der Hout An interdisciplinary artist Van...

He realized installation art, graphics press, large format murals, sculpture and painting. In all these areas, in addition to artistic workshop, the most important thing is his message of the work, the message contained therein. He believe that "art" is one of many languages (perhaps even more sophisticated than others) that humanity learned to lead the discourse at a level different than just verbal. He indentify with the principle "if you have nothing to say - be quiet...
