Anna Castelli Ferrieri (August 6, 1918 - June 22, 2006) was an Italian architect and industrial designer. She is most known for her influence in the use of plastics as a mainstream design material and her cofounding of Kartell, an Italian contemporary furniture company.
Ferrieri was a pioneering architect, commonly associated with post war Italian Modern Design. Her design focused on technological innovation through the use of new materials, like plastic. Ferrieri created more than 50 architectural projects, but some of her most famous and iconic works are as follow; the Kartell headquarters (with it being made from brilliant red blocks), a residential building on Via Marchiondi in Milan, and several offices and factories in Alfa Romeo. All of these were created in collaboration with Ignazio Gardella.[1] Although, according to biographer Cristina Morozzi, Gardella took the recognition for projects that Ferrieri worked on because he wanted to be the master of his own studio.[9] In 1982, she created the first table...

Introducing a beautifully pair of crafted three-legged pine stool, model no. 522 by Krogenæs Møbler. This stunning piece of furniture was designed in Norway in 1964 by none other than the factory owner himself, Rangvald Krogenæs. The stool, known as "Fjøskrakk," or "Milking Stool," draws inspiration from the functional milking stools of the past.
Provenance: This particular pair was originally owned by a worker at the Krogenæs factory and originally painted by him.
In times gone by, milking cows was a physically demanding task that required long hours of labor in the fields. Milking stools were essential tools that helped milkmaids get down to the level of a cow's udders for easier milking. The three-legged design ensured stability on uneven ground, making it easier to extract the milk. The milk was then carried in buckets suspended from the shoulders by a yoke.
