China Adams
China Adams is a multidisciplinary American artist, born in 1970, in San Francisco, California. She has lived in Los Angeles for over 20 years. She earned a BFA degree from UCLA in 1995 and an MFA degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2000. She makes conceptual artworks in a range of media. Much of her work addresses notions of reusability, consumerism and our impulse to acquire possessions.
Though not as immediately self-referential as some of her earlier work, China’s A Certain Period of Time series of drawings certainly have a quality of self-portraiture embedded within them. She has been featured in exhibitions around the world, including several solo shows at Ace Gallery and Steve Turner Contemporary, in Los Angeles, California.
