Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture purple printed dress, Spring/Summer 1970

Buyer Protection Guaranteed

A beautiful and dramatic piece of haute couture by the great Yves Saint Laurent, this exceptional dress is made of pure silk, printed with a python skin pattern in lilac upon a rich ivory background. Gently shaped and darted at the waist to enhance the curves and create a fluid, sinuous feeling, the dress is lined in amethyst silk and details two attached silk ties at the neckline which can be worn flowing down the rear of the dress, over the décolletage or tied at the neck to resemble a scarf. Catherine Deneuve was photographed in a near identical dress by Guy Bourdin in 1970. Unusually, this dress bears the mark of a very dignified previous owner; a 1cm strip of silk ribbon at the breast, indicating that the woman who owned this dress was decorated with France's highest honour, the Legion d'Honneur. Should you wish so upon purchase, the ribbon can be removed without affecting the dress in any way.
