Large Chinese Tongzhi Octagonal Vase with Magpies Amdist Foliage, 19th Century



An impressive, large and decorative Chinese Tongzhi porcelain vase exceptionally well painted with two magpies perched on a branch amidst flowering shrubs including peonies and two butterflies dating between 1861 and 1875. The vase is of octagonal shape with an unglazed base and painted against a yellow ground with a formal patterned border around the foot and top rim of the vase and the vase is not marked. The vase is offered in excellent condition and probably had a cover.
