An antique Chinese late Qing Dynasty period wooden coffee table from the early 20th century, with green lacquer, hand-woven rattan top inset, square legs, open apron and pillar strut motifs. Created in China, this low table was originally made from a cut down Lohan bed, also called an opium smokers' bed. The table showcases a rectangular top with hand-woven rattan inset and slightly beveled edges, sitting above an open apron accented with a regular rhythm of pillar strut style motifs. It is raised on four sturdy square-shaped legs giving great stability to the ensemble. The design is the same on all sides, the table will be able to float in a room and be seen from all angles.
