Possibly used by Chinese aristocrats, these rosewood armchairs delight our eyes with their richly carved structures. Each back is adorned with a skillfully executed décor of foliage, birds and fruits, surrounding a central marble inlaid splat. The foliage motifs are subtly reprised on the open arms in a curling dance. The rectangular framed seat is resting on four cabriole legs, visually connected to one another through a scalloped apron present on three sides. Very well constructed with 5 drawers and one open door compartment, finished on the sides and back, this dresser was made from solid Nam wood which is very high quality wood to make high end furniture. This dresser is in traditional design with some simple carving works on the front. There are some minor blemishes due to age but definitely quality workmanship you don't find anymore today! The solid wood construction consists of four frame members joined by tenons and mortises. The top and the main body connects through a decorative waist with carved begonias. Two center doors on dowels carved with the He-He Harmony Gods on the caps and two side doors operated by wood pegs on the frames. The top section of the doors feature three-dimensional carvings of noblewomen enjoying a garden.
