About the Item

This 19th-century Japanese bronze incense burner is finely cast in the shape of a duck with an elegantly arched neck and open beak, a symbol of longevity and peace in Japanese culture. The finely detailed feathered wings and smooth body reflect expert craftsmanship. Designed for burning incense, the hollow interior allows fragrant smoke to escape through the duck’s open beak, creating a mesmerizing effect. The burner stands on sturdy webbed feet, (one foot/leg restored). The bronze has a fantastic soft colour/patina.
