Original Japanese temple "blossoming lotus" flower bud stems form an attractive double bouquet. Made for a shrine altar, these flower blossoms and leaves symbolize the stages of the path toward enlightenment. The individual parts of each lotus is assembled and then joined in an arrangement of two stems and two bouquets and inserted into the vessel. Called "Jyôka" and they are placed on or next to an altar in a Buddhist temple. In Buddhism, the lotus is an important symbol of divine enlightenment because it blooms into beautiful flowers while growing in mud. Tsunehana means "a flower that continues to bloom forever" and "a flower that does not wither." For this reason, the flowers represented are in different stages of their life, unfolded lotus leaves, buds and full flowers, thus symbolizing the journey towards Buddhist enlightenment.

This thin marble stone painting is approximately 3/8 inch thick and is cut from a large slab of rough material revealing a unique, incredible pattern in white, cream and dark colors and includes hanger and hardware on reverse.
This unique work of art was from historic Dali marble found in the Cangshan mountains of western China. These mysterious mountains, unique in the world, are known for yielding incredible and fantastic natural landscaped works of art created over tens of millions of years from mineral inclusions that affected the process of ancient organic material which transformed into limestone and finally resulted in marble- a metamorphic hard stone.
This art form is centuries of years old since the Ming dynasty. Dream stones became favored art in the west particularly since the 19th century when French collectors named them Pierres de reve.

Beautiful deep resonating ring tones await the new owner of this large one-of-a-kind antique bronze bell from old Japan. Its beautiful light green patina makes it an attractive and desirable work of art. This distinctive dragon headed bell called ryuzu and remarkable protrusions called chi chi or nyu are crafted by generations old skilled Japanese specialists to improve sound resonance and are unique to Japan's ancient traditions.
This antique hand cast bronze temple bell dates to the middle Showa period, mid last century.

A rare survivor, this rugged bell was gently used.
Please note its impressive cast dragon headed top ryuzu, thick walls and original blue gray toned patina.
Dimensions: 19 inches tall and 11 inches diameter. It has been used and possesses an original light green aged patina appropriate to its age-just the way we like to find them.
Its deep resonating sound is guaranteed to please you. In addition. It’s bold sound of brings to the Japanese people - the “voice of Buddha” is even more impressive because of its thick walls (see photo). This bell sound and voice of Buddha was used to deliver wishes to the temples patrons and followers.

Antique Asian Paintings and Screens
Traditional Asian paintings were often created on scrolls and folding screens. Artisans made screens that could be folded up or spread out by connecting several panels using hinges. Today, antique Asian folding screens and paintings are sophisticated decorative accents that can serve as makeshift partitions to ensure privacy.
The original folding screens were created by Chinese artists. The earliest record of screens comes from the 2nd century B.C., and surviving examples date back to the Ming dynasty. Chinese painting utilizes many of the same tools as calligraphy — these screens were crafted from wood with painted panels featuring striking art or calligraphy that told cultural stories or represented nature and life in the area.
The practice was introduced to Japan, where paintings for screens were made on paper and silk, in the 8th century. These paintings frequently feature subjects such as landscapes, animals, flowers and Buddhist religious themes. Along with screens for tea ceremonies and dance backgrounds, there were screens for use in Shinto and Buddhist temples.
In the 17th century, screens began to be imported to Europe where their popularity grew. Coco Chanel famously collected Coromandel folding screens.
