Grand Chinese Export Eight Panel Lacquered Coromandel Screen
About the Item
Gorgeous Chinese export eight panel coromandel double sided screen depicting Han Palace on the front side. The screen features heavily lacquered panels incised with color pigments and gilt with a dramatic glossy piano lacquer background finish. The pavilion scene is decorated with figures engaged in leisurely activities amid panels and trees in a walled pavilion. The scene is bordered by mythical birds and decorated with scholars objects on the bottom. Each panel measures 16 inches wide and is supported by square legs. The opposite side has a stark forest landscape with birds and a matte black lacquer ground. Very impressive screen, one of the nicest we have seen. The screen 10-12 inches taller than most 8 panel screens, possibly custom made. From a grand estate in San Francisco, CA.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted with solid joinery and construction. Age appropriate wear with minor age cracks, chips, scuffs, and losses that are difficult to see. Very good condition give age and use.
