Japan, a fine set of two shoji "Birds and Dragonfly" bamboo doors or screens recently acquired from a Japanese private collector. The hand carved boards are artistically cut and inserted as decorative borders. Lovely examples with original handles, ready for immediate installation. Hand selected, they are in fine condition. Shoji aren’t just doors- they are considered to be fine furniture and fine wall art. When each sliding door is closed, they softly diffuse light through out your house. These beautiful high quality screens may be used as sliders in your favourite room, as room dividers, or hung as wall art displays. They are in good gently used condition. Dimensions: Each screen is 71 inches tall and 27.25 inches wide ; total width for pair is 54.5 inches wide Good opportunity as complete traditional sets like this and especially of this quality are infrequently available. About Shoji: In modern Japan, shoji means wooden sliding doors with translucent paper on. These doors slide on wood tracks very smoothly and quietly, work as a room divider or window coverings. The original concept of shoji was born in China, and was imported into Japan sometime between 7th to 8th centuries.
