About the Item
The Above Sea Level collection is a collaboration between Dutch designer Klaas Kuiken and ceramics workshop Cor Unum, blending experimental design with over 65 years of ceramic expertise. The collection includes three vases and a side table, inspired by Kuiken’s fascination with material transformation and Cor Unum’s refined craftsmanship. Polystyrene molds were used to shape porcelain pieces, preserving the molds’ textured surfaces in the final designs. Evoking the grandeur of icebergs, each piece is named after a glacier—B-15, C-19, B-9, and D-28—connecting nature’s forms with sculptural beauty. Known for innovative materials, Kuiken expands his mold-making exploration, while Cor Unum ensures delicate yet robust porcelain craftsmanship. This collection celebrates the harmony of raw texture and artisanal precision.

It is the first time that Jan Keustermans and his family offer a selection of sculptures, directly from the artist’s atelier.
Jan Alfons Keustermans (°1940) is a Belgian sculptor, medalist and draftsman. He studied at the National Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp and until 2000 he was director of the Municipal Academy of Fine Arts in Turnhout.
He has won several art prizes for sculpture and participated in group exhibitions in Belgium and abroad.
He has created more than 850 works. In 1994, he won the Ministry of Finance’s competition for a portrait of King Albert II on the Belgian currency. In 1997 he designed a similar version for the euro coin.
