Small Lao Lan Xang Bronze Buddha Head, 17th Century, Laos

About the Item

A small and sweet cast bronze fragmentary head of the Buddha, Lan Xang Kingdom, 17th century, Laos. The small Buddha head finely cast with well defined features. The face with a somewhat "pinched" look, typical of Lan Xang figures. High arched and winged brows surmount heavily lidded and downcast eyes. A short and wide nose sits above thick and sensuous lips, the corners turned up in a seductive smile. The ears with long, pendulous earlobes that sweep outwards. The bronze with a wonderful coppery chocolate patina, with small areas of malachite green and cuprite red encrustations. Mounted on a black wooden stand. Measure: Height of head only 2.75".
