Antique Hand Dyed Cotton Batik Slendang (Selendang), Java. A length of cotton fabric used as a shoulder cloth, hand dyed in three colors: the base dyed golden yellow overall then a vermillion and maroon painted over a wax resist design, created by reserve hand drawn canting for the frame of tendril vines and the interior pattern of aquatic life including fish, scorpions and ripples.
Condition: One small patch, a few stitched together splits and other minor signs of age and wear otherwise good.
Size: 17.25 in. wide x 74 in. long (44 x 188cm)
