About the Item
An elegant and high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Onyx, Ormolu and Wrought Iron andirons. Each stunning andiron is raised by two front scrolled Ormolu legs with top tapering acanthus leaves and ending with hoof feet. At the center is a stunning reserve of foliage flanking a central crest like design. Above is an impressive Onyx circular tapered column with a bottom square plinth. The plinth is decorated by an Ormolu mount with a laurel wreath amidst wings and two quiver like designs. Above is a rounded Ormolu mount decorating the bottom of the column. The column leads up to a swaging floral garland with two tied bows. The top of the column is finished with a Corinthian capital and the eternal flame. The curved Ormolu back support leads to the elevated Wrought Iron log holders.
