About the Item

A highly detailed and most beautiful French 19th century Neo-Classical st. Ormolu jardiniere/planter. This exquisite rectangular planter is raised by a Coeur-de-Rai designed base. The intricately detailed body above is tastefully decorated by a Classical Greek scene of a man playing a lyre in the forest while being surrounded by lions and lionesses. The sides and rear of this wonderful piece are left with a smooth clean Ormolu finish. The inside contains the original removable copper liner with circular handles. All original gilding throughout.
