About the Item

Pair of hands bowls designed by Afra & Tobia Scarpa. This is a fabulous matching pair of bowls designed in Milano Italy by the architects Afra & Tobia Scarpa, back in the 1990. The sculptural bowls has been designed as a four open hands in solid pure .999/.999 silver with high polished finish. They were produced in limited edition of only 50 pieces by the company San Lorenzo. Mounted in round bases made up of gilt bronze. They are very versatile pieces that can be displayed as is in a contemporary decoration or just used to serve fruits in a dining room or on a console. Afra and Tobia Scarpa They are award winning postmodern Italian architects and designers. Their pieces can be found in museums across the United States and Europe, including collections in MoMA and the Louvre Museum. They have collaborated with companies such as B&B Italia, San Lorenzo Silver, and Knoll International. They have won a number of awards such as the Compasso d'Oro in 1969 to the International Forum Design in 1992. Their design work consists of architecture and everyday household items including, furniture, clothing, interior design, art glass. They focused on the technical and aesthetic possibilities of materials in their designs. The couple was greatly influenced by Tobia's father, Carlo Scarpa, a Venetian architect and designer. Condition: The overall condition of these hands bowls by Afra & Tobia Scarpa are excellent. Besides the little normal wear, there is no damage to the silver and all parts are secured in the settings. Salt cellars designed by Tiffany & Co. Beautiful antique pair of salt cellars created at the Tiffany & Co. in New York city, back in the 1921. This model was crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with high polished finish. made under the directory presidency of John C. Moore during the art deco period, between 1907-1947. The cellars were designed with classical George III styles, based in the original designs made in London by Dorothy Mills in 1755. As with all Tiffany pieces, the quality and design are beyond compared. Exceptional and rare example of Tiffany's finest work. Components: Two salt cellars and two salt spoons. Weight: 190.95 Grams, (122.45 Dwt). Measurements: 76 mm by 76 mm by 33 mm (3 x 3 x 1.30 Inches). Hallmarks: They are each stamped with the maker's mark, the silver assay mark, the order number, the inventory reference, the letter M for John C.
