About the Item
This is a very good quality English Art Deco period lidded Box, of two contrasting woods with a hinged lid and one internal compartment, dating to circa 1925.
The box has very in-period Art Deco lines, with a low rectangular shape and curved geometric sides.
It is well made with a base made of a paler hardwood, possibly beech, with a well figured solid burr walnut flat top which is hinged at the rear, with two brass hinges.
The interior of the box is rectangular measuring;
6.2 x 4.38 inches wide at the top opening and 1.5 inches deep.
This box has a very "in-period" design and shape, being similar to larger furniture pieces of the time, such as bureaus and desks.
The box is very well made and in good overall condition with a variety of uses such as jewelry or trinkets on the desk or dressing table.
