A pair of French 19th century Louis XVI Ormolu white Carrara marble candelabras

About the Item

A stunning and most elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and white Carrara marble candelabras. Each beautiful three arm candelabra is mounted on a circular marble base that has three receding panels with foliate Ormolu decorations inside and supported by topie shaped Ormolu feet. Atop the marble base is the urn shaped marble body that is raised by three 'S' scrolled foliate decorated Ormolu hoof feet on an Ormolu plate with a berried laurel band around the edge. At the base of the marble body is an Ormolu acorn finial accented with acanthus leaves holding the base. The mid section of the body contains rams head top caps above each leg and connected by a reeded mottled band. Between each of the three legs, there are swaging floral garlands that attach to each of the rams heads. Above the marble body is a fluted socle that introduces the three wandering arms emerge from a garden of berried floral designs and joined by additional budded and blooming flowers leading up to the rose pedal designed candle cups.
