An elegant mantle piece clock with vases made in Paris circa 1860

About the Item

An elegant mantle piece clock with its accompanying vases made in Paris circa 1860. Very much in the Jacob Petit style and most probably from his factory, each piece is elaborately gilded and hand painted with cartouches of flowers. The scene is a Scène élégante and at the same time pastoral. The young barefoot man teaching the young maiden to play his flute whilst the faithful dog waits patiently at his feet. Very allegorical and in the eighteenth century French style. Measurements provided are for the centre pierce clock
