About the Item

A stunning and high quality French 19th century Louis XV. st. ormolu, patinated bronze and Rouge Griotte marble clock. The clock is raised by a most decorative and uniquely shaped triangular rouge Griotte base with fine scalloped sides, a mottled border and foliate feet. At the center is the wonderfully scrolled and interlocking ormolu support with richly chased foliate and floral mounts leading up and centering the patinated bronze face with ormolu numbers. A most charming and finely detailed winged cherub is sitting on top of the clock and helping his friend to climb up and join him. Wonderful proportions and attention to details. All original gilt throughout.
