About the Item

All Bitossi ceramics are entirely handmade by our artisans at every stage of the production process. Wiggle is Max Lamb’s collection for Bitossi, exploring the material through manual engraving with a spiral metal cable for a unique undulating texture. The collection features six classic shapes, both round and square, designed as architectural elements. The respective shapes utilize the lathe and slab techniques; the slabs are engraved on both sides and manually assembled, resulting in the engravings persisting within the shapes. A palette of matte glazes in shades ranging from midnight blue and purple to meadow green, salmon, and electric blue was utilized. The Wiggle collection stems from an exploration of materiality and consists of six forms — both round and square — reminiscent of architectural elements, created through slab-building or wheel-throwing techniques in white clay. The process involves manually carving the surface using a spiral metal wire to create a wavy texture. The square forms are engraved both inside and out. The palette features matte glazes: midnight blue, white, moss green, purple, cream, and royal blue. The project was presented in 2017.
