About the Item

A rare TANE Orfebres Sterling Silver with vermeil sculpture by Victor Vasarely named Cuadratura. Series 6 / 20 and signed on one of its sides. Manufactured in 1978. Weight: 2390 g. Measurements: 15 x 15 x 15 cm. (5.9 x 5.9 x 5.9 inches). Cuadratura is part of the collection "Arte Objeto", a series of limited edition sculptures made in numbered, limited editions with important artists from Mexico and the world like Mathias Goeritz, Leonora Carrington, Luis Barragán, Francisco Toledo, among others. Victor Vasarely (1906 - 1997) is an Hungarian-born French artist and illustrator, known as the father and leader of Op-Art. After leaving the medicine studies, he learned traditional painting, applied arts and design under Sándor Bortnyik. In 1930, he moved to Paris, where he made himself a name in graphic design. His artistic work began in the 1940's after the end of World War II. His experimentation with kinetic art and geometric abstraction were essential on the development of art in the last decades of the 20th Century.
