About the Item

Elegant white marble bust, supported by a circular base in turned marble. The bust depicts a young charioteer, portrayed with a serene expression, and his face framed by curly, voluminous hair. The chiton, the traditional tunic worn by charioteers, is also partially visible, highlighting his graceful bearing. Made in Tuscany, the bust clearly reflects the distinctive features of the Directoire era, placing it in an artistic period that goes from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. The workmanship is of the highest quality, with refined details and particular attention to facial expressions and the rendering of the drapery. An additional element of interest is found on the back of the bust, where there is an inscription dated 1878, testifying to a gift to which this splendid sculpture was the object. With its elegance and delicacy, this bust is not only a work of art, but also a furnishing accessory capable of enriching any environment, giving a touch of class and refinement.
