A massive one-off plaster sculpture bust of Michelangelo’s David, made in Italy in the 1990s. Measuring 120cm in height, this dramatic and imposing piece was specially commissioned by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna (the city’s historic opera house) as part of the stage design for an operatic production.
Crafted in plaster with impressive scale and sculptural presence, the bust captures the idealised beauty and powerful features of Michelangelo’s iconic figure. The textured surface and bold form lend it a strong theatrical character, appropriate to its original use in scenography. Today, it stands as a striking decorative object that would make a commanding focal point in a large interior, adding grandeur and a sense of performance to any setting.
CONDITION
Some very minor scrapes throughout, no significant damage other than to the base where there are more significant chips to the plaster. Please refer to photographs
