West German Pottery Display Head by Scheurich Model 701
About the Item
The dark eyes with the slightly raised eyebrows give this bust an intriguing lost-in-thought expression. This pensiveness is underscored by the slightly offset handlebar-moustache over the closed lips.
The "Sepia" color scheme of chestnut-brown hair and vanilla-cream skin along with that magnificent mustache immediately take us back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Made by the renowned West-German pottery and ceramic manufacturer Scheurich, this ceramic sculpture probably dates from the late 70's, early 80's and will make a great shop display, headphones holder or stand for your favorite hat or wig.
This head is in good condition with no chips or cracks. There is a small fault in the glazing on the right eye-brow and the model number 701 is just barely visible on the base.

Please note:
With a lifetime of stories behind them, our vintage design items come with a bit of character.
Like the best of us, they may have picked up some scratches and scuff marks, acquired patina, and that original shine may have faded a little. And like with most of us, the internal struggles are not always visible to the outside world.
Our second-hand items may not fulfil state-of-the art safety standards and codes in your region. Inner faults may exist that were missed by us. Please always consult with a certified professional before installing any electrical items.

Art Deco Table Lamp "Ikora" by Paul Haustein for WMF, Model 110 / 216, Germany c
By WMF Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, Paul Haustein
Located in Cork, IE
A silver-plated brass body, which was "fire-patinated" in a newly developed chemical process, makes this "Ikora" table lamp a true example of how technological innovation drove exceptional design in 1920s Germany!
During the late 1920s WMF developed new techniques involving chemical reactions on precious metals and glass to produce its celebrated "Ikora" collection. By using a stopping-out method to create the pattern and adding Ammonia to blacken the brass during a high temperature firing process, a playful, yet geometric pattern was achieved, which gives this lamp a timeless Art Deco aesthetic.
Originally designed in 1928 by Prof Paul Haustein as a decorative metal container with lid, WMF decided to also use this design for this table lamp with model number 110 / 216
The lamp is wired for two E27 light bulbs and the central column can be easily extended by up to 8 cm (3.1 in) by loosening and tightening a small handle next to the two light sockets. This allows for different light effects as well as mounting larger lamp shades...
