Art Deco Clear Glass Study Entitled Jazz Musician with Saxophone by Sèvres
By Cristalleries De Sevres
Located in London, GB
A very fine Mid-20th century clear and frosted glass figurative study trophy in the form of a jazz musician playing a saxophone with excellent crisp handcut detail, signed and with original sticker. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Height: 21 cm Condition: Excellent Condition circa: 1950 Materials: Clear Glass ABOUT Cristallerie de Sèvres is born in 1750 by the initiative of Madame Pompadour. However, it was not until the reign of Charles X when the true splendor of Cristal de Sèvres occurs. This has only been possible thanks to the remarkable quality of its products, including his famous “Opalines”, crown jewel, or the wonderful pieces set in silver and gold and released in the Universal Exhibition of 1878. In just a century and a half, Cristal de Sèvres and their luxury glassware conquer the “art de la table” lovers, with its aesthetic with the times, its timeless sophistication and its famed crystal Craft...

Monumental Important Art Deco Silver & Gilt Bronze Goddess G. Lavaroff
By Georges Lavroff
Located in New York City, NY
An exceptionally large and rare French Art Deco original bronze sculpture circa 1927 by a well known artist Georges Lavaroff (1895-1991) It's quite uncommon to find this very large size and notably featuring the silver and parcel gilt finish. The artwork features a majestic female nude, adorned with a stylized cloak in alternating stripes of gold and silver, which showcases a pyramid shape. The Egyptian goddess is depicted as an undraped figure with arms outstretched above her head, holding a crescent moon. She wears a north star headdress that adds to her regal appearance. The cloak is embellished with stars and a comet, and the female figure rests on a bed of stylized clouds. The sculpture is presented on its original black and gold marble base. All of these attributes add to the uniqueness and value of the artwork, making it even more remarkable and sought after by collectors and art enthusiasts. Water bottle shown for scale. Documentation : Les bronzes Art Deco de Georges Lavaroff, sculpteur Russe a Paris 1930 Kastelyn et Mazzucotelli. Georges Lavaroff was born in Sibera in 1895. He studied medicine and painting. After the revolution of 1917 he moved to Moscow and became a member of the Russian artists association where he began to exhibit his work and take part in shows as a member of the Association of artists of Revolutionary Russia. He then worked in France from 1927 until 1935. This period was the richest point of his profession where he produced his most famous works of Art Deco figures...

Rare Art Deco Bronze Sculpture “Mischievous” by Paul Philippe
Located in Shippensburg, PA
PAUL PHILIPPE Polish/French, 1870-1930 "Mischievous" Polychromed gilt bronze over original marble base signed in cast "P. PHILIPPE" signed in cast "i9.R / France" with foundry seal of A.G. Paris Item # 212MPH15S An exquisite and rare example of Paul Philippe's Mischievous finished in a brilliant polychromed gilt, the young woman grabs her reddish-brown hair in hand while looking off into the corner with a sly look in her eyes that suggests she holds a secret that we will never know. The base signature is captured directly from the mold. Situated over its original faceted base. A very fine work. ARTIST Born in Thorn in Poland in 1870, Paul Philippe studied under Antonin Larroux at the École des Beaux-Arts after moving to Paris, France around 1900. He exhibited extensively at all of the major French salons and developed his own voice in sculpture by focusing his ouevre around the movement of the female body, often depicting exotic models in highly theatrical poses with a loose adherence to realism in his idealized visions. He walked a fine line between Art Nouveau and Art Deco while his figures do tend towards the latter. He executed figures in bronze and chryselephantine and worked with some of the best foundries in France and Germany. Many examples of his work are held in the Art Deco Museum in Moscow, Russia.
