Marbled Blue Sèvres Porcelain Vase, France, Dated 1872
Located in Dallas, TX
From Sèvres, France, this lovely porcelain vase has been hand painted in a faux blue marble with black and white veining. The vase was produced in the style of a Greek stamnos, which was a vase designed to store liquids. Stamnoi are typically more squatty versions of krater vases, with handles high on the sides. The bottom of the vase is stamped with a production mark reading “Sevres 1872”. Sevres is a commune southwest of Paris that is known for its porcelain production. Manufacture nationale de Sèvres is a premier European porcelain factory that has been in Sevres since 1756. From 1800-1847, Alexander Brongniart was the director of the factory. Trained as both an engineer and a scientist, Brongniart brought about many changes to the factory, such as improving the composition of hard-paste porcelain and developing enameled colors to simulate marble. Our marbled blue Sèvres porcelain vase...

Chinese Export Famille Verte Porcelain & French Ormolu Chinoiserie Centerpiece
By Edward Holmes Baldock
Located in Los Angeles, CA
A very fine and large 19th century Chinese export famille verte porcelain and French figural ormolu-mounted Chinoiserie style centerpiece jardinière, in the manner of Edward Holmes Baldock (1777-1845). The circular-ovoid porcelain bowl or cachepot, maybe 18th century Jiaqing period (unverified), decorated with a blue and purple ground background with parcel gilt depicting pagodas, trees, mountains and landscape scenes, flanking scrolled handles issuing from the base and ending with a finely chased ormolu pierced acanthus rim. The two ends with a projected mask of Chinese Imperial lions or foo dogs, surmounted and raised on six finely chased ormolu masks of Bacchus satyrs flanked by seashell-like mounts. The Ormolu, circa Paris, 1880. The Porcelain circa 1800 (Maybe 18th century.) Measures: Height: 15 3/4 inches (40 cm.) Overall width: 21 inches (53.4 cm.) Depth: 17 inches (43.2 cm.) Edward Holmes Baldock (1777-1845) was a prominent London furniture dealer to the Royal Family, father of Edward Holmes Baldock. He was first listed in the London trade directories in 1805. That listing had him operating out of No.7 Hanway Street in London, where he was described as selling "china and glass". An updated listing in 1821 described his business as "an antique furniture and ornamental furniture dealer", and in 1826 as a buyer and seller of "china, cabinets, screens, bronzes etc". Between 1832 and 1837 he sold earthenware and glass products to William IV, and upon the ascendancy of Queen Victoria in 1837, sold china until his death in 1845. Baldock was one of the first antique dealers and is similar to the 18th century marchands-merciers Dominique Daguerre and Simon-Philippe. He was the father of Edward Holmes Baldock (1812-1875), a British Conservative Party politician, and of Mary Frances Baldock, wife of the philatelist W. A. S. Westoby. Seguso for Bisazza Pair Mustard Murano Pulegoso Vase Gold Rim, 1993 Signed
By Seguso, Bisazza Vetro, Livio Seguso, Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Seguso & Cenadese
Located in Tavarnelle val di Pesa, Florence
Set of two splendid Pulegoso vase. One round and the other tall. The round is lighter and the tall darker tone of mustard. Perfectly executed Pulegoso finish. This is Murano Crucible Pulegoso. The mouth has a rim with external gold leaf difficult to notice because it does not contrast with the background. Just magnificent and rare set. At first I believed, because of the round shape, that Bisazza was dovetailing Carlo Scarpa original round shape from the 1930s. When I was able to see the pieces and see the year, then all came clear. In the second part of the 1980s there was a re-discover in Interior design of the Native American arts. In particular, the Navaho products. As Carlo Scarpa took his inspiration from Japanese shapes, here Bisazza translated in glass the Navaho pottery art. Here the reason for a hearty color, these orange toned Puligoso is part of the Seguso tradition. Colors that are not in high fashion. This collection belongs to the Livio Seguso production made under Bisazza ownership for a small period of the early 1990s. Livio continued his artist career with the freedom and the free state of mind that came from not owning a company. Similar path of Luciano Vistosi. Bisazza, the famous luxury mosaic company, continued Seguso models for the first part of the 1990s. Then closed the furnace and continued to focus with his mosaic collection. His masters, Elio Raffaelli...

Vintage Umbrella Stand by Buccarelli Milano, circa 1960s Italy, Signed
By Piero Fornasetti, Bucciarelli
Located in Los Angeles, CA
A beautiful circa 1960s vintage Italian umbrella stand by Bucciarelli, signed underneath with 'Bucciarelli Milano Made in Italy' label. Similar to umbrella stands made by Piero Fornasetti, it has been rumored he licensed some of his work to the retailer Bucciarelli however we have not found any confirmation on this so this is listed as 'In the style of' Fornasetti. This hefty cylindrical umbrella bin is made with lithographic transfer and lacquered metal that has a black background with gold decoupage cameos motif, elegant brass trim and brass feet to this gorgeous collectors piece.
