Pair of Exceptional Wedgwood Edwardian Jasperware "Etruria" Planters, Date 1907

About the Item

This outstanding pair of "Etruria" jasperware planters pulls their decorative motifs from the forms and decorations of ancient Rome -- and more specifically from Etruscan rather than Greek influences. The Edwardian or early 20th Century era saw the return of interest in Neo-Classical and Classical design. The white ornament on the deep black ground makes for a striking and beautiful contrast. These rare urns will certainly take pride of place on the mantel or in a display cabinet or with topiaries in them. The marks are impressed on the bottom ; "Wedgwood", "Etruria", and "7".
