About the Item

Two large hand-crafted Danish Art Nouveau lizard vases by Lauritz Jensen for Ipsens Enke in 1899. The rare art nuveau vases feature a very well made lively lizard on the frontside of the vases chasing a beetle cravling on the side of the vases The vases are in very good condition. As they are hand-crafted small variations in dimensions and tone of colors occure. Ipsens Enke (1843 - 1955) was a very succesfull company that especially during the first part of the 1900´s managed to attract several leading names in Danish art and design who worked for the manufactorer who managed to export their pieces to many countries. Over the years, the manufactorer's creations acquired 56 first-class international prizes and are represented in many public institutions among them Neue Pinakothek in Munich, the National Museum in Stockholm, the Los Angeles Museum in California, Cleveland and the Brooklyn Museums, the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, the National Museum of Finland in Helsinki, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Les Amis des Musees de la ville de Mons, Brussels, the National Arts Club in New York and the Latvian National History Museum in Riga.
