About the Item
A stylish Finnish mid-century porcelain vase decorated with a young woman with flowing hair by Esteri Tomula for Arabia. The finely made vase is of tall cylindrical shape and decorated with a pattern titled PASTORAALI portraying a tall woman wearing a full-length dress patterned with curlicues and holding a large flower in one hand. She is set within a surround of flowering stems containing several small birds. The vase is decorated in a black outline with elements of blue to the flower heads and birds and set against a white ground. Typical of the mid-century popular Scandinavian style and similar in style to the work of Bjorn Wiinblad we believe the vase dates to around 1960. The vase has printed Arabia makers marks along with the pattern title applied to the base.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market.
In excellent condition with light wear associated with age and use.
