Japanese antique pottery "Tamba" ware/15th to 16th century/rare Jar

About the Item

I would like to introduce rare and interesting Japanese antique pottery. This is called "Tamba ware" in Japan. Tamba is a historic kiln located in Hyogo prefecture, Japan. (The part marked with a red circle on the map is the Tamba kiln) It is said to have originated around the 12th century. In Japan, there are six typical kilns that still have a long history, and this is one of them. This Tamba ware is characterized by its reddish-brown skin and emerald green natural glaze, and the clay is smooth with few irregularities. Most of them have a neat shape and an elegant appearance. This vase was made around the 15th to 16th century. A characteristic of this period is that the maximum diameter of the vase is around the center. (A vase from the same era as this vase was published in a specialized book as a reference image, so that is included.) It is thought that this was caused by the high temperature of the part that was exposed to the fire during firing, causing cracks, and then being fired in the kiln at high temperatures, which eventually caused the vase to break. This is an excavated item, and some of the broken pieces have been glued together, but not all of them are there. In Japanese, pots that break in the kiln during firing are called ``Yabure-tsubo'' or ``Yabure-tsubo.'' Yabure = torn tsubo=Jar In Japan, such vases are rather prized and used as flower vases. This vase also has a beautiful appearance and a broken appearance at the same time, and seems to express the ephemeral nature of a moment. The bottom part is glued to another ceramic piece with epoxy putty so that it can stand on its own. Therefore, it can stand on its own without any problems. This kind of "Yabure-tsubo" is difficult to obtain even in Japan. I was lucky enough to find it when I went far away to buy it. This is a highly recommended item. Also, I want many people to know the goodness of antiques, so I set the price reasonably. Weight: 8.1kg [We mainly sell old Japanese items. We've seen tens of thousands of items so far.
