Korean antique black glaze pottery/Joseon period/15th-16th century/small vase
About the Item
This is a small black-glazed jar made in Korea between the 15th and 16th centuries.
White porcelain is famous in Korea, but this was a type of porcelain that was only allowed to be used by people of a relatively high social standing.
Many of the items used by the common people were dark pottery or simply glazed.
Among them, pottery using black glaze is famous, and this is now highly appreciated in Korea and Japan.
The Joseon Dynasty was a long dynasty that lasted from the 15th to the 19th century, but this pottery was produced for a short period of time, from the 15th to the 16th century.
The black glazed pottery that was fired during this short period of time is called ``Kuro-gorai'' in Japan.
[kuro] = black
[Gourai] = Goryeo
Goryeo is the name of the dynasty that preceded the Joseon Dynasty, but in Japan, vessels imported from the Korean Peninsula continued to be called "Gorai."
Dark pottery was also fired during the late Joseon Dynasty, but it was not called ``Kuro-gorai''
It refers only to black-glazed pottery made in the 15th and 16th centuries.
Also, since a similar item was published in an art book, I have included a photo of it as a reference.
This is a small jar that can be held in one hand.
Since this was an excavated product, it was buried in the ground for a long time. Therefore, the black glaze has a dull texture without gloss.
However, the lackluster texture gives a nice wabi-sabi feel.
There is no other bad place.
It can be said that it is in relatively good condition.
A special storage wooden box is also included.
Decorating with flowers creates a very nice atmosphere. Of course, I think it would be very cool to decorate it as is.
How about placing it in your living room or entryway?
I want many people to know the goodness of this Jar, so I offer it at the lowest possible price.
Recommended item.
