About Hjorth's Ceramic Workshop
Hjorth's Ceramic Workshop was founded in 1862 by Lauritz Adolph Hjorth (1834–1912) in Rønne, Bornholm, a Danish island known for its rich ceramic tradition. Under Hjorth’s leadership, the workshop quickly gained international recognition, particularly in the 1880s, for its high-quality, handcrafted ceramics. The Hjorth family managed the workshop for over 130 years, preserving traditional techniques and artistic craftsmanship. In 1993, the workshop became part of Bornholm’s Museum, ensuring that its legacy continues as a working museum, where visitors can experience authentic ceramic production using the original 1860s potter’s wheel.
