About the Item

A ceramic vase from Thailand, with light beige glaze. Contemporary. While the golden age of Thai ceramics ended around the 15-16th Centuries, local craftsmen learned the art through generations, later producing smaller numbers of pieces with different clays and glazing techniques. Today, Thailand's artisans carry the tradition now aided by modern kilns and more diverse glazing techniques, while keeping the handcrafting tradition alive. This contemporary vase is beautifully finished in a semi-gloss beige color which resembles marble. It measures approximately 8.5 inches in diameter and 15.5 inches high.

A ceramic vase from Thailand, with light cream glaze and painted floral decorations. Late 19th Century.
