About the Item

Pair of George III sterling silver covered serving dishes. Made by Paul Storr in London in 1815. Each: Rectangular bowl with tapering sides and lobed corners; cover raised and lobed. Twist-lock leaf-capped bracket handle on lion heads resting on massive paws; flowerhead mount. Gadrooned rims and borders. Waterloo-era for a suitably topical vibe. A stately twosome—make that foursome because the covers convert to bowls. In full working order for another century or two of dinner parties. Fully marked. Total weight: 122 troy ounces.
