Sculptural Glass and Brass Valet Tray Attributed to Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte

About the Item

An exceptionally elegant and rare valet tray or catchall attributed to Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, Italy, circa 1950s. Crafted from thick, hand-ground green glass with beautifully beveled edges, the piece is defined by its pure elliptical form and its elegantly arched patinated brass handle, which appears to float delicately over the surface. The refined tension between the weight of the materials and the visual lightness of the design speaks to the unmistakable language of Fontana Arte during its golden years under Ingrand’s direction. Elegant, sculptural, and highly decorative, this piece is both functional and collectible, ideal as a centerpiece or desk object in refined interiors. In very good vintage condition, with light wear consistent with age and a beautifully aged brass finish. A rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Italian glass artistry with exceptional design pedigree.
