About the Item

A superb late 19th century Minton twin-handled garniture vase and cover, exquisitely hand-painted by the celebrated artist Antonin Boullemier (signed A. Boullemier). The ovoid porcelain body is finely decorated with an oval panel depicting a playful Cupid, beautifully rendered with delicate detail and romantic charm. This central panel is framed against a striking pink ground enriched with raised trailing gilt blossoms and further highlighted with lavish gilded accents. The vase is completed with a conforming domed cover and twin gilt handles, adding to its elegance and grandeur. Bearing the puce printed Minton globe mark, the piece stands at an impressive 33 cm high including cover. Both decorative and highly collectible, this vase exemplifies the luxurious artistry and technical excellence of Minton’s late Victorian production. Artist Note: Antonin Hilaire Boullemier (1840–1900) was the son of a Sèvres artist and trained at the Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory in France before relocating to England in 1872, following the Siege of Paris. He joined Minton & Co. in Stoke-on-Trent, where he rose to become one of the firm’s highest-paid and most sought-after artists. Boullemier was renowned for his finely painted mythological and allegorical scenes, often featuring cherubs, cupids, and classical figures, which today remain highly desirable among collectors of Victorian art porcelain. Key Features: Maker: Minton & Co., Stoke-on-Trent Artist: Antonin Hilaire Boullemier (signed) Period: Late 19th Century (c. 1880–1890s) Material: Porcelain with gilt decoration Decoration: Cupid at play, hand-painted panel Ground: Pink with raised gilt floral design Mark: Puce printed Minton globe mark Height: 33 cm (including cover) A fine and highly collectible example of Victorian Minton art porcelain Condition: Excellent antique condition with vibrant colours and minimal wear to the gilding, commensurate with age. This rare and signed vase represents the pinnacle of Minton artistry and would make a striking addition to any collection of antique porcelain, Victorian decorative arts, or Boullemier-signed works. Its impressive size, vivid palette, and romantic subject matter ensure it will be equally at home as a showpiece in an interior setting or as a collector’s investment.
