Art Deco Glass Statuette of an Amber Pair of Fish by J A Jobling c1935 -English

About the Item

A stunning and rare amber double fish figurine sitting on an art deco wave platform. This was designed in 1935 by Etienne Frankhauser for J A Jobling -In the late 1920s and 1930 the famous English Glass house of J A Jobling tried their hand at copying the Rene Lalique style of glass making and employed Frankhauser (Rene Lalique's Mould maker) to design a number of pieces for them, the rarest and most impressive of which were a series of medium small animal paperweights usually in clear and 'opalique' This example is exceptionally rare being in dark amber -the only example of a amber Jobling paperweight we have ever seen. The design was registered in the UK Reg No 799629 in 1935 (the registration mark is visible in the last picture) and it was probably only made briefly until 1939. The last picture shows the Double Fish with other Jobling Paperweights -also available separately in our other 1stdibs listings
